Wanju Brewery

Competiton, Winner

Design 2021 - 2022

The small brewery at the Wanju Traditional Korean Liquor Theme Museum is designed to offer visitors a deeply immersive spatial experience where the boundary between nature and architecture flows fluidly. The soft curves and varying depth of the eaves naturally guide the gaze and movement of visitors, encouraging them to explore the space at a slow, intentional pace. These architectural elements provide visitors with the opportunity to experience the space in a relaxed and contemplative manner.

The weathering of the wooden exterior over time gradually allows the building to blend into the surrounding environment, while natural light streaming through the skylight and the shadows cast on the gently sloped roof transform each moment within the space into a unique and vibrant experience. This design, with its quiet yet powerful presence, allows visitors to resonate with the slow, refined rhythm of traditional brewing, offering a calm and sensory journey that invites deep reflection on the environment and materials.
