Wanju Brewery

Competiton, Winner

Design 2021 - 2022

In the vicinity of the Republic of Korea Art Museum in Wanju County, a small-scale brewery is planned to be established, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the traditional brewing process. The small-scale brewing facility inside is intended to be used for producing local traditional beverages. Embracing sustainable architecture, the exterior features a contoured wooden facade and a roof constructed from recycled wood used in the formwork of the front concrete walls, aiming to reduce carbon emissions. The undulating form of the roof, with its deep eaves that vary along the curved profile, reflects the passage of time, creating a dynamic and lively silhouette. The natural exterior, left to weather over time, blurs the boundary between nature and architecture. The gently curving walls, symbolizing the essence of spirits, and the interplay of natural light entering through skylights, combined with the slopes of the roof, define the interior space, expressing the spirit's realm through its undulating movements.
